Dubbed ‘The Bag Lady’ after years of painting on luxury bags from Goyard to Chanel to Hermes, her name, now synonymous with luxury itself, Boyarde is creating her own series of works, celebrating the irony of her unintended branding & playfully tackles her perceived value as an artist by painting ‘Most Wanted’, extracting over a decade’s worth of elite fashion knowledge, embracing our consumerist desires, creating the ultimate viewing ‘experience’ onto worthless yet priceless branded paper bags.

Paralleling the same 100 hours of painting that she would put into painting on an Hermes Birkin, this one-of-kind paper bag becomes a symbol of consumerism, celebrity & self-worth, where we get to watch who’s who, who’s wearing what, whilst they view what’s hot, shining a spotlight on our need to observe & compare, albeit garnished with her usual sprinkling of irony & wit.

MOST WANTED: HARRODS

Here, we gaze with curiosity and envy at the instantly recognisable silhouettes of Audrey, Barbie & the Bearbrick doll, feasting on their designer brands as they watch & admire that iconic forest green canvas & historic gold logo.

MOST WANTED: SELFRIDGES

Paddington Bear, inspired by a teddy bear bought at

Selfridges, clad in a red Prada Pork Pie hat and Cartier briefcase, holds hands with Kusama, embodying the never ending crossover of fashion and art holding her own LV handbag.

Meanwhile, Dorothy, representing the spirit of Selfridges, the yellow brick road and land of

opportunity, clicks her red Laboutins whilst holding her Birkin and Gucci collar led Koons in tow.

With the ultimate viewing platform, curiously we gaze at these iconic characters adorned in designer goods, whilst they admire, not Hockney’s iconic ‘Splash’ but that bag floating in the pool.

Most wanted: this is just a bag?!

As part of Bonham’s Auction House, New Bond Street’s After Hours event, Boyarde was proud to create a Bonhams X Boyarde ‘This is just a bag?!’ as the featured artist.

With their POP X CULTURE auction coinciding, Boyarde took icons, artworks & luxury fashion items featured in the auction & hand painted an exclusive Most Wanted on a brandless cotton tote bag, displayed alongside Damien Hirst & Andy Warhol.
